The inspiration for my pieces come from the ocean, not only in its beautiful blues and greens but also in the sea creatures that live within its expanse and depth. From the deep blue ocean to the Gulfstream and even into the sounds and bays, it is easy to be drawn into the beauty of the abundant sea life. From sea turtles to nautilus, they capture my fascination and imagination.

The natural patina process of copper and bronze frequently remind me of the colors we find in the ocean and its sea life. So one day, the artist and scientist inside of myself got together, to bring the patina process into art with sea life being the focal point of interest. It is impossible to replicate any two pieces of copper patina art just as it is impossible to replicate the design patterns and colors of each living sea creature.

For the platform, I use a superior marine-grade Mahagony plywood, the very same that they use in building high-end custom sportfish yachts. This adds stability and weatherability in case a client wants to display the art on a porch or other outdoor wall. The sea life is created carefully to crete a 3D effect and the patina process is initiated with layers of authentic copper and bronzes that naturally patina over time. In many cases this takes up to 4-6 months on my larger pieces. Once it has achieved the desired color and finish, the patina process is sealed with a custom sealer for durability and UV-Resistance. Finally, the frame is hand-framed, bent and hammered with genuine copper and copper nails, and I adorn the art with my copper medallion anchor signature. Each piece of art comes with an artisan packet including a signed Certificate Of Authenticity for art collectors.
