The Story: 
After living full-time in Beaufort NC for 25 years, I have fallen in love with our town, its barrier islands, wild horses, the endless variety of boats which pass through our waterways, our local shrimp boats, our sea life, our bird life and Cape Lookout National Seashore.
 
This painting is inspired by my love of shrimp boats and the Fulchers Fleet that had adorned the docks of the Fish House on Gallants Channel for as long as I can remember. Like little soldiers, they are lined up, ready to serve. These bright red painted shrimp boats are iconic in Beaufort NC.
 
This scene often has dolphins swimming, pelicans resting on nearby pilings, seagulls spying for stray shrimp, or a Kingfisher diving. The last remaining working commercial waterfront in Beaufort North Carolina, it is alive with these large steel shrimp trawlers as well as smaller wooden shrimp boats at Ted and Todds, just around the corner.
